"The Veterans Affairs Department assists veterans and their families and survivors in filing claims for all federal, state, county and other benefits to which they may be entitled. The department also administers the County operation of the Michigan Veterans Trust Fund and County Veterans Relief Fund to assist veterans and their dependents with financial emergencies, and the County Veterans Burial Fund to help provide an honorable burial for veterans and their spouses."
