Statewide Tornado Drill

The emergency alert system through RAVE / IPAWS and a test of the county outdoor warning sirens will take place. Please take the opportunity to discuss emergency plans with your family and co-workers.

 2022 County Hazard Mitigation Plan

The Hazard Mitigation Plan is a compilation of natural hazards, vulnerabilities, historical events and mitigation strategies specific to Livingston County, Michigan.

This FEMA-approved plan was created through a collaborative effort between county agencies and local jurisdictions. It is intended for review by the public, local jurisdictions, private business, government entities, and others with an interest in Livingston County. The overview of natural hazards, historical events, and mitigation strategies are meant to inspire responsible community planning. It will allow citizens and businesses insight as to what Livingston County recognizes as potential hazards, and give them an opportunity to plan in advance for emergency events. Special thanks to the Livingston County Planning Department, Information and Technology GIS, Drain Commissioner's Office, Health Department, and Emergency Management Department for their efforts to develop and publish this plan.

 Siren Testing

The 2023 Statewide Tornado Drill will take place on Wednesday, March 22, 2023 at 1:00 PM

The sirens will be set off at that time and the Livingston County Emergency Alert System will be tested. County landline telephones and notification alert subscribers will receive the Tornado Drill alert via telephone call. This is only a drill! If the weather is inclement, the drill will be cancelled. For more information on the drill; listen to WHMI or visit our Facebook page.

Regular Siren Testing:
Livingston County 911 Central Dispatch will be testing the tornado sirens the First Saturday of each month at 12:00 P.M. from April to October. If there is inclement weather at the testing time, the test will be cancelled.

 CERT Basic Training Class

No CERT Training scheduled at this time.

 Skywarn Training

SKYWARN® is a volunteer program with nearly 290,000 trained severe weather spotters. These volunteers help keep their local communities safe by providing timely and accurate reports to the National Weather Service.

This is Spring Spotter Training, A great class for weather watchers of all ages!  Seating is limited to 100 people on a first-come, first-seated basis.
