Shelter Adoption guidelines-updated.pdfIf you would like to adopt a pet please visit the shelter or take a look at the adoptable animals on our website. It is important that you visit the shelter and spend some time with the animal that you are thinking about adopting.
When you adopt, we provide an animal’s medical history including vaccines, de-worming, heartworm or feline leukemia testing. Animals adopted from Livingston County Animal Control and Shelter will be micro chipped, and if it is a dog, it will have a Michigan dog license.
We do not take deposits or hold pets for people. We process too many animals and field too many phone calls to “hold” animals for people or groups.
In order to make sure the pet fits into your household we will do a trial period so your new pet has a chance to adjust to your home. You have 3 business days to return a dog, and 10 business days to return a cat for a refund.
As long as the pet that you are returning is healthy and its temperament is fine, it will go back up for adoption. Please provide us information about the reason you are returning the animal! We will include this information in its profile and that will help us find a suitable home for the animal in the future.
Here are our adoption guidelines. Please reveiw this for questions on adoptions. Thank you.
