Fines and Fees

Adoption Fees

Dogs (over 4 months)
Small Dog (any age)
Puppies (under 4 months)
Cats (over 4 months)

  • If a pet does not work out, a full refund will be given.
  • You have 3 business days for dogs and 10 business days for cats to get a full refund.
  • All refunds will come from the county treasurer in the form of a check and take up 3-4 weeks to reach you. 

Impound, Board, and Redemption Fees

One weekend in here can cost you close to $100, so please keep your dog licensed and at home!
Please note: every owner is responsible for all costs, including but not limited to rabies vaccine, licenses, impound fees and board. Below are the impound fees. Boarding fees are in addition to impound fees.  Your dog needs a valid dog license to be released. We can provide that here for you.
  • Boarding is $20 per night for dogs, $10 per night for cats.
  • License fee is $10 if the dog is fixed, $25 if not fixed. 
  • A rabies vaccine is $15 and will be charged to all dogs being returned to the owner if proof cannot be provided that the dog is current.
  • If an Animal Control Officer picked up your dog, you also may be charged a $35 pick up fee.

  • Livestock boarding is done off site and is $50 per night.
  • This will be owner’s responsibility along with hauling costs to move livestock.

Other Fees

  • Owner Surrender, please call first to check on availability of space, there is no charge
  • TNR (Trap, Neuter, Return) of feral/wild cats—Ear tip is required.
    • $25 each
    •  AllTNR cats must arrive in a live trap.
  • Owner requested euthanasia: Please call your veterinarian first, staff are not always available to assistance.
  • Owner request euthanasia due to bite case: Please call your veterinarian first, staff are not always available to assist.  If LCAS assist the fee is $150 per animal.  If the animal has not completed the 10 day quarantine the animal will require rabies tested, you must contact the Health Department 517-546-9850 and Animal Control 517-546-9111 prior to the euthanasia and testing.
  • Dog trap rental: no charge (requires a $150 cash refundable deposit)
  • Cat trap rental: no charge (requires a $50 cash refundable deposit)
