Emancipation of Minors

Emancipation is the process for teenagers to obtain legal independence from their parents' control. The petitioner must be between 16 and 18 years of age.

Submit to the Livingston County Juvenile Court:

• Completed Petition for Emancipation (Form PC 100)
• Completed Addendum to Protected Personal Identifying Information (Form MC 97a)
• $175.00 filing fee
• Completed Fee Waiver Request, if applicable (Form MC 20)
  
• Certified copy of birth certificate
