Mission Statement: To prepare and implement the Livingston County Solid Waste Management Plan in accordance with Part 115 of Act 451, as amended.  The plan was developed to meet three primary goals:
  • Develop and implement an integrated solid waste management program which protects public health by maximizing environmental and economic benefits.
  • Develop and implement mechanisms to control illegal dumping by providing incentives and education to prevent illegal dumping from occurring.
  • Build an educated public where citizens are informed about and understand solid waste management issues and concerns.

 Household Hazardous Waste Information & HHW Collections

 Electronics Waste Collections

2019 E-Waste Collection Aug. 17

9 am - 1 pm No appointment needed

Electronic waste collection (TVs, electronics, etc.) is done only during scheduled Collection Events. Held in the County East Complex parking lot, 2300 E. Grand River, Howell.

 Compost Bin & Rain Barrel Sale

A few compost bins still available.  Pre-order & Pay On-line until stock is gone.

Typically offered in spring, this program offers discounts on compost bins, rain barrels, and other composting products. The full 2019 sale has closed, but we still have a few compost bins available.  If interested, follow the link below (only until extra stock runs out), then pre-order and pay online, then call the office to arrange pick-up of your items. For residents only.  Limit 10 car/light-truck tires per address.* Registration required.  Register on-line

The drop-off location is given with your confirmation. *Comment in your sign-up if you have larger tires, or more than 10.  Call 517-545-9609 if you have questions.
