 Solid Waste Management Committee

A nine member committee appointed by the Livingston County Board of Commissioners to review plans for proposed solid waste facilities in Livingston County.  The committee also acts as an advisory board to the Livingston County Solid Waste Program.   

The committee consists of:

  • 2 general public representatives
  • 1 solid waste industry representative
  • 1 environmental health representative
  • 1 public health representative
  • 1 city/village representative
  • 3 township representatives

The committee meets quarterly at the Livingston County East Complex. Persons interested in receiving entire agenda packets or participating as a member of the Solid Waste Management Committee should call 517.545.9609 or email solidwaste@livgov.com.

 Board of Public Works

A seven member board comprised of Livingston County professionals. The Board of Public Works (BPW) meets monthly at the Livingston County East Complex Building at 2300 East Grand River in Howell. Current board members:

  • Director - Brian Jonckheere,
    Livingston County Drain Commissioner
  • Chairman - Arthur McCleer
  • Vice Chairman - Michael Arens
  • Secretary - Greg Tatra
  • Other members:
    • Dale Brewer
    • Mike Cunningham
    • Jason Foley
    • Pat Hohl
    • Robert West

The BPW oversees projects under construction within the County.  The BPW also authorizes the payment of bills and invoices for projects under their jurisdiction.

Upon completion, a project may be turned over to the municipality for everyday operation.

Projects still under the Board of Public Works include:

  • The closed county landfill in Howell Township is overseen by the BPW.
  • The Septage Receiving Station located in Hartland Township is under the daily operation of the Drain Commissioner's office and overseen by the BPW.
