Livingston County Septage Receiving Station

In 2007, the Livingston County Board of Commissioners banned the application of septage (septic tank waste) on all properties in Livingston County. The elimination of land application solves the environmental risks associated with over 12,000 onsite septic wastewater systems in Livingston County. This was done to protect the citizens of Livingston County from the contamination risk that it poses to surface water and groundwater. To address the need for septage disposal, the Livingston County Department of Public Works designed and built a state-of-the-art septage receiving station.

The Livingston County Drain Commissioner's sanitary staff operates and maintains this facility located in Hartland Township.
