LAKE IMPROVEMENT PROJECTS
The Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Act (excerpt) Act 451 of 1994, Part 309, as amended, provides a legal mechanism for making improvements to inland lakes. It does this in part, by establishing a lake board.
The Board is comprised of a member of the board of commissioners of the county, a member of the local unit of government (like township, city or village), and resident representative and the county drain commissioner.
The Livingston County Drain Commissioner is the Chair of three active Lake Improvement Boards:
Located in Marion Township
Located in Hartland and Tyrone Townships
Located in the City of Howell and Oceola Township
