We would like to take this opportunity to introduce you to the Livingston County Senior Nutrition Program. Livingston County offers nutrition service "Meals on Wheels" for senior adults over the age of 60. There are four congregate centers in Livingston County: Hamburg, Fowlerville, Hartland and Gregory. At these centers you can order a hot, delicious meal and join in senior programming.
All of our meals are nutritionally balanced and approved by the Area Agency on Aging 1-B. The luncheon meal, including homemade breads and desserts which are freshly baked, provide one third of the daily nutritional needs of the senior adult. These tasty, satisfying, and well balanced meals are offered five days a week.
THE NUTRITION PROGRAM SERVES TWO PURPOSES:
- To provide a congregate setting as well as socialization for those seniors who are able to drive to the senior center. The congregate meal offers an opportunity for senior adults to gather together and share fellowship instead of being isolated and lonely at home. Many seniors are able to make new friends and find new hobbies and interests at their centers. This meal offers them the chance to enjoy no cooking, cleaning up or being forced to eat alone.
Approximately 200 Congregate Meals are served each day. Senior Center Contact Information
- To provide a hot meal to all homebound seniors of Livingston County who are unable to prepare a meal for themselves. The home delivered program provides homebound senior adults a noon meal delivered to their door. These seniors are homebound, isolated, and unable to either cook, shop, or plan meals for themselves. This meal enables seniors to maintain independent living arrangements where otherwise they might have to go to a nursing home.
About 450 Homebound Meals are delivered each day. Meals are delivered 5 days per week. Meals for the weekend could be provided. If weekend meals are provided they are delivered on Friday.
A donation of $3.00 is suggested per meal. You may use a Bridge Card, Check, Visa or MasterCard.
