Central Records

The Sheriff’s Office Central Records Division is responsible for a variety of tasks including fingerprinting, pistol purchase permits, local records checks, and FOIA requests.

Obtaining a Police Report

  • Traffic Crash Reports - You can pick up a copy of your traffic accident report in our office during our normal business hours or purchase it for a $10 fee on the Michigan State Police website. Some reports can take 5-7 days to be completed and ready for release.

  • Criminal Reports/Field Contacts - All other police reports can be obtained by picking it up in our office or submitting a FOIA request online thru the Livingston County website. Please be aware that some reports may require a FOIA request to be submitted. Most reports take 7-10 days to be processed.


Fingerprinting

  • If you need to be fingerprinted for licensing or job-related activities, you will need to call to schedule an appointment. Fingerprinting is done Monday - Thursday, from 7:30 am to 5:00 pm and Friday, from 7:30 am to 4:30 pm. LiveScan fingerprinting is $43.25 and can be paid with cash, check, or credit card. If you are paying cash, you must have the exact dollar amount. No change will be given. If you pay by credit card, you will be charged a $2.50 service fee.

  • If you have been ordered by the court to get fingerprints taken, you MUST have your order for fingerprints paperwork from the court to get fingerprinted.

  • Currently, we do not offer ink fingerprints services.


SOR Registration/Verification

  • SOR verifications are done by appointment only Monday - Thursday, from 7:30 am to 5:00 pm and Friday, from 7:30am to 4:30 pm. Please call our office to schedule an appointment.

  • If you have any questions about your requirements as a registered offender, please refer to the Michigan State Police website.

Pistol Purchase Permits

  • Pistol purchase permits can be obtained at our office Monday - Thursday, from 7:00 am to 6:30 pm and Friday, from 7:00 am to 4:00 pm.
