- 1988 Associate Degree in Criminal Justice from Lansing Community College
- 1988 - Graduate of the Mid-Michigan Police Academy
- 1990 - Corrections Division Livingston County Jail
- 1993 - D.A.R.E. officer for 2 1/2 years
- 1994 - Voted outstanding young Law Enforcement officer of the year by the Howell and Michigan Jaycees.
- 1996 - Promoted Road Patrol Sergeant
- 2000 - Promoted to acting Detective Lieutenant
- 2001 - Transferred to Variable shift Lieutenant (combined road and jail)
- 2002 - Transferred to Road Patrol Lieutenant
- 2005 - Promoted to Undersheriff
- 2016 – Appointed Sheriff
