Lost Dog Tags

We charge $5.00 for a replacement tag. Send or bring in current proof of rabies vaccination (rabies vaccination cannot expire within 30 days of reissuing tag) and, if available, your copy of the license application. If you do not have the copy of the application, we will be happy to look up the information for you.

Protecting Your Pet

Your local vet will be promoting two options for identifying your lost pet: microchip technology and tattooing.

  • A microchip is a permanent form of ID about the size of a grain of rice.  For most animals, the chip is implanted just under the skin in the scruff of the neck.  It is not a tracking device.  When a hand-held scanner passes over the microchip, it reads the unique encoded number.  This ID number is the only information stored in the microchip.

  • A tattoo is a good form of permanent ID as well. For more information please call 517-373-1077 or go to the State of Michigan Website and search for Dog Tattooer.

  • Call your veterinarian for more information.
